The Enemy Within

When an underage boy runs away to join the Great War, his desperate father, Frank Metcalfe, volunteers for the Australian Imperial Force on an impossible mission to find his only son on the bloody battlefields of Europe.

Captured and incarcerated in Germany's most notorious POW officers' camp, Kaserne Holzminden, Frank -- assigned low-ranking orderly's tasks -- is not only forced to come to terms with his German captors, but also the inequitable and rigid master/servant structure within his own ranks.

Determined to escape to continue the search for his son, Frank strategically targets a young German Unteroffizier guard, Jakob Schafer, blackmailing him to secretly smuggle escape tools into the camp.

As the covert underground tunnel deepens, Frank is shocked to discover the balance of power shifting when Jakob engages him in a life-threatening game of cat-and-mouse.

If Jakob betrays him and the tunnel is discovered, Frank will go before a firing squad ...

Inspired by true events.
